Open Studio | August 25
Open Studio | August 25
SUNDAY, AUG 25| 1:00 PM-5:00 PM, CST
Open studios are for those with ceramics experience who want independent access to our classroom equipment and facilities. These sessions are supervised, but we provide no instruction. Session payment includes use of our facilities, equipment, basic pottery tools and practice clay for one person. It does not include firing/glazing costs.
We require that you have some training or experience in clay, preferably to have taken a class previously at NHCP. We advise beginners to sign up for our guided classes if instruction is needed.
SUPERVISOR: Elizabeth Garland/Ashley Banks
"The Maker Morning session fee provides access to the studio facility, equipment and basic pottery tools; however, we encourage individuals to bring their own clay tool kit, bucket, and towel. Everyone is required to clean any borrowed tools or used areas before the end of the session. Staff will be present to aid with check-in, help direct students to tools and materials, and answer basic questions. Clay, glazes, and services can be purchased from NHCP for an additional charge. Services, such as us glazing and trimming your work, are charged based on time. Payment for clay and firings will be assessed and taken at the end of each studio session. We accept cash, check or debit/credit. (See Clay & Glaze FAQs for more info.)
Individual clay/glaze, tools or supplies must be transported to and from each studio session. We cannot guarantee storage space for your projects, and each participant should plan their work session accordingly. Since this is an independent session, if you want to pursue trimming or continuing working on a project the following week, we will try to accommodate your work so you won’t have to transport the work and potentially damage it, but do not expect space. NHCP will also not be responsible for any unclaimed pottery, clay, tools or supplies left behind two weeks after the last attended Maker Morning date.
Registration/payment is required to secure your space in this class. NHCP encourages all participants be vaccinated against Covid-19. This class is recommended for ages 16 and older. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment of four is not met two days prior to the scheduled class date. Additional class dates or full reimbursement will be offered for those who sign up for a canceled class. Click here for our CANCELLATION POLICY. Please allow for firing and glazing of the work; pieces will be ready and available one month after your class date. We will store the pieces for a maximum of 3 months after the workshop unless other arrangements have been made.
